Lexi needs some wheels – Christmas workout

to-help-lexi-buy-her-wheelchair-in-2017

Lexi is getting ready to buy her first wheelchair, so we would like to make our Christmas workout this year a fund raiser to help her get a new set of wheels.  Starting with a family friendly workout at 9:00am.  Morning tea from 10am – 11am, with an arrival from Santa and a Kris Kringle present exchange.

All proceeds from the day will go directly to Lexi – this includes all class fees, any donations and Kris Kringle entry fees.

Class and Morning tea: $17 or $20 for a family
Kris Kringle: Bring a small gift and $5 for a fun Kris Kringle present swap.

Please make a booking so we have an idea of numbers.  Payment will be taken as cash on the day, so we can avoid losing money through online booking fees.

Please also feel free to learn more about Lexi on her website.  She is a beautiful girl, whose dad has been a bootcamper with See Change for many years.

If you are unable to attend the event, but would like to make a donation, we have a donation box at the studio, we can give you account details for donations as well, or you may wish to have a look at some of Lexi’s artwork that is for sale on her website as well.

See Change Bootcamp – Kyle takes charge again.

bootcamp-balls-and-conesSee Change proudly announces that Kyle Wood is at the helm of the morning bootcamps again.  Kyle is one of the best bootcamp instructors in the field.  Kyle was the founder of Bootcamp at See Change 7 years ago. During his time at See Change he started his own business to help other bootcamp instructors share workout and business ideas.

Kyle instructing Instructors

He has spent the past three years traveling the world researching, learning and teaching all things Bootcamp. He is now a mentor to bootcamp instructors worldwide with 8000 people following his movements on Facebook. He has another online bootcamp coaching business with members from over 500 cities.

We are lucky enough to have Kyle rejoin the See Change team to lead our morning Bootcamp.

With Kyle at the helm, you will see a planned and structured bootcamp. Each round will have a beginning, middle and end. Kyle is meticulous with his session planning to ensure you get variety, fun and challenging workouts. If you are able to sign up for 3 sessions a week, we definitely encourage you to give it a try to get the most out of your bootcamp.

As the weather improves, Kyle will be making full use of the Fairfield Park area. He knows Fairfield Park incredibly well, so if you are new to the area, this is the perfect way to have a look around. You will never look at the Amphitheater the same way after training with Kyle.

Smiling Assassin

Kyle – The Smiling Assassin

I hope you all enjoy what Kyle wants to bring to the See Change Bootcamp. Bootcamp is his passion. He is packed full of ideas and challenging workouts that he wants to unleash.

On a side note: A trainer that hires the studio on an hourly basis pulled me aside the other day to ask – “Is Kyle Wood taking bootcamp here now? …THE Kyle Wood?”. Kyle officially has a THE as his title!

Good luck Bootcampers and Welcome Kyle!

Nordic Walking

Nordic Walking – For any fitness level

Nordic walking is a great low impact all over body workout. It allows you to use your arms to take weight out of your lower body. In effect this strengthens your upper body whilst relieving a bit of tension from knees.

Nordic walking is conducted at Fairfield park which has a great mix of terrain, inclines and stairs. We show you the various ways to approach these environments to make the most out of your poles to assist you in each situation.

An account from a long time See Change Nordic Walker:  Judy Stanton

Nordic walking with Judy and Jen

“What are you doing?” asks one passer by
“Where’s the snow?” asks another.

Little do they know how much fun we are having and what a good workout “walking with sticks” is giving us.

Every Friday morning Jen and I set off with our imaginative and ever patient Trainer, Maree, to explore the wonderland along the banks of the Yarra. We walk along a myriad of different paths through Fairfield Park, so we can workout up hill down dale and across grassy lands. First it was for forty minutes, then an hour now an hour and a half – we’re addicted – because it gives us such a good work out in the fresh air! Jen and Maree have amazing navigational skills and an intimate knowledge of the territory, ensuring that we can always venture further and be inspired by the countryside and our skills to walk competently.

Poles make up hills a “possibility”

When I started I was apprehensive about how I would manage – what with the extra weight I was carrying, the knee problems, poor fitness and overall lack of coordination-but this style of exercise looked interesting and promised to take “some of the weight off my knees” if I could learn to propel myself with skill, using the sticks. I briefed Maree at length-age, physical limitations etc etc. Then I had to learn to be coordinated and not “trip over my sticks”-round and round the oval we went – with chants to memorize the routine and “engage the core” – miraculously after about three sessions I was powering along – much less presure on my knees and an amazing zing of coordination and power and overall exercise.

An absolutely fabulous way to exercise.
